If you have some free time

If any Ubuntu members, users, or gurus have any extra time the next couple of days, the ubuntuforums.org is going to have an influx on new users needing help on Ubuntu. We could use help answering new users questions, especially in the Absolute Beginner Talk forum or just search for new posts. Please stop by if you have the time.

Forum Thread of the Week: Ubuntu - My New Home by Kevin Carmony

Posted October 17, 2007 ago at 12:31 pm. 5 comments

Once a week, I’m going to find a thread on the Ubuntu Forums of interest to me and hopefully the Ubuntu community in general and blog about it.

Ubuntu - My New Home, is a thread started by Kevin Carmony of Linspire fame. In this thread he discusses Linspire, his new love for Ubuntu, his new projects, and the Mitt Romney campaign (could the U.S. have a President that understands what Linux and Open Source are?). I invite everyone to the discussion.

In the Mighty Avengers #4 the last page shows the Ubuntu grub screen on a computer in the panels. Kernel 2.6.10-5, they should really upgrade from Breezy.

I saw this story on Digg, and I have to agree that the Microsoft Alumni Network logo look similar to Ubuntu Circle of Friends.

Maybe they are Microsoft alumni cause they have moved to better things (and operating systems ;-) ).

No Dell For Me

I was planning to purchase a Dell Inspiron E1505n to replace my work laptop. Unfortunately the new Dell systems with Ubuntu have not been approved for Higher Ed sales. I think higher education sales would be an ideal market for these systems. Hopefully Dell will add their Ubuntu line to high education and other market outside the U.S. soon.
