I have had problems with the 173 driver also, that is the reason I don’t suggest that.

I was talking with Zelut about this a day or so ago. I told him that I was seeing the same thing and the fix I found was to use the 173 version of the nvidia driver instead of the 177 one. I have not seen any issues since making this change. My card is the following “VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1)”
