rhythmbox .0.9.5 and music-applet 0.9.2
I have made a deb package for the latest version of Rhythmbox 0.9.5.
Features of the new version include.
- Improved plugin support, and several features converted to plugins
- An album art viewing and download plugin
- A song lyric viewing and download plugin
- Ogg Vorbis tag editing (requires a GStreamer plugin not yet in cvs, see bug 335635)
- Partial iPod write support (off by default, pass --enable-ipod-writing to enable.)
- Improved audio player and DAAP support
- CD ripping and track transfer enabled by default

Should I remove my existing version 0.9.3.1 installed by Ubuntu “dapper drake” first?
What happens about updating Rhythmbox in future? Will Ubuntu automatically update it if/once they have a newer version in their repository? Or will it be “my job” to make future updates…

“Error: dependency is not satisfiable: libpango 1.0-0″

Alex,
Don’t worry, the latest version of libpango has been added to the dapper repositories. Ensure you have the updates included in your package manager. I had the same message as you, but I followed the advice at this link and ran an update.

No problems downloading and installing on Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper. Used the root terminal and cheated by cut & paste from above. dpkg complained about 1 dependency missing (libglitzl >= 0.5.x) apt-get could not find it, opened Synaptic, which complained of a broken link, ran fix broken depend. links, everybody happy. Able to finish installs includeing appletts. Seems to work great. Question on the last.fm plugin. How do I get it to work? I do have an account on last.fm. Also any docs on the appletts? Not sure what they do or r 4?
